Through strategic collaborations with investors and stakeholders, Enugu State’s tourist Board is preparing for a dramatic overhaul of its tourist sector. Dame Rita Mbah, the newly appointed Executive Chairman of the Board, revealed this pledge at a news conference on Tuesday.
Dame Rita Mbah stressed the magnitude of the challenge at hand, recognizing that the development of Enugu’s tourist attractions and resources will necessitate partnership with both local and foreign investors. She reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to being “investment-driven” under His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah’s leadership.
“We think tourism is big business.” “As a result, here at the Tourism Board, we are appealing to both local and international investors to collaborate with the State in developing our tourist sites and the tourism industry in general,” Dame Rita Mbah added.

The Enugu Tourism Board intends to involve numerous players in the artistic, cultural, and hospitality industries in order to carry out this ambitious objective. They intend to work with community leaders, traditional rulers, government agencies such as the Federal Ministry of Aviation and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), as well as businesses in the hotel, retail, and finance sectors.
The fundamental goal of this collaboration campaign is to revitalize Enugu’s tourism by developing a favorable destination identity for “DESTINATION Enugu.” Digitizing cultural assets and tourist sites is part of a strategy to increase their discoverability and accessibility to both domestic and foreign visitors.
The Tourism Board also plans to collaborate closely with broadcasters and other outlets to promote Enugu State and push it to the forefront of global attention. They intend to create a 12-month cultural and tourism calendar, which will begin with the forthcoming Christmas season.
In her closing remarks, Dame Rita Mbah thanked Governor Peter Mbah for putting her appointment in her hands. She expressed her joy and deep sense of pride at being asked to serve and lead these transformative initiatives. She also requested media support and invited constructive criticism to help them reach their goals, underlining that by working together, they can make Enugu a place to be proud of.
